\n\nThe event commenced with a warm welcome from Dato\u2019 Edwin Michael<\/strong>, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Yayasan Tan Sri Profesor Ahmad Ibrahim. This was followed by a thought-provoking special tribute and delivery of citation by YBhg. Tan Sri Zainun Ali<\/strong>, whose reflections resonated deeply with the audience. The evening\u2019s pinnacle was the much-anticipated session with Chief Justice YAA Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat<\/strong>. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMALLAC is YTSPAI\u2019s flagship initiative in the form of a one-day convention that\naims to act as a platform for critical discussions on issues surrounding the legal aid\nlandscape. The event has brought together participants from diverse backgrounds and\nfeatured distinguished speakers from Malaysia and Singapore.\n

\nEach edition of MALLAC is centred on a specific theme that reflects contemporary\nconcerns in legal aid. The 2024 theme, \u201cJustice Unbound: Empowering Law Students for\nLegal Aid,\u201d emphasised the role of the next generation of lawyers and examined critical\ntopics including the implementation of legal aid in tertiary education as well as the\nintersection between legal aid and artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, the 2025 theme,\n\u201cBridging the Gap: Law Made Simple, Justice Made Accessible,\u201d focused on the lived\nrealities of legal aid and the exploration of strategic resources to strengthen and improve\nthe system.\n

\nMALLAC garnered support from various stakeholders across the Government, the\nJudiciary and the legal fraternity. In MALLAC 2024, we were honoured to have YAB Datuk\nAmar Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, officiating the event,\nand Her Excellency Tun Tengku Maimun binti Tuan Mat, the then-Chief Justice of Malaysia,\nto deliver the keynote address.
